3 Ways to Save Your Health

We all want to be healthy, but how many ways are you undermining your health every day? It may be more often than you think!

Be Wary of Energy Drinks

We can start a novel about some concerns with energy drinks, but among the top contenders are the amount of sugar that is present in each of these giant cans and the high concentration of many ingredients. When you’re drinking an energy drink, you’re pouring heavy duty stuff on your teeth. The combined effect of those ingredients is enough to erode tooth enamel in as little as five days. Get a straw, or better yet – get a glass of water.

Slow Way Down

There is a correlation between how fast you eat and the likelihood of developing Type II diabetes. Eating fast doesn’t cause diabetes, of course, but eating too much of the wrong stuff can over time. By slowing down your meals and chewing thoughtfully between bites, you’ll eat less, weight less, have lots of interesting thoughts and possibly prevent diabetes as well.

Ditch Your Spanx?

There’s some debate here, but at least one researcher found that Spanx and other forms of controlling undergarments are the “21st-century version of the corset with all of the same health risks.” While it’s unlikely that a combination of Lycra will cause malformed internal organs, there is a bit of risk to wearing your Spanx every day, all day.

According to Richard Brickness, director at the Bristol Physiotherapy Clinic in England, “By artificially holding in your stomach, control pants prevent your diaphragm from descending fully while breathing, which can lead to hyperventilation, panic attacks and stress incontinence.” Please ladies, if you start to pee on yourself, find different underwear.
